Almost a month later.
Layal was outside of Danas
house staring at her phone in disbeleif, as denial has taken over her. She couldn’t believe
it, she just received a phone call from her father informing her that her
mother has passed away. Her cancer was in a very developed stage and doctors couldn’t
do anything to treat her condition.
Layal couldn’t cry, why? She
was simply denying it. Her mother is gone, that wasn’t something easy for her
to comprehend.
She was alone, her father was
away since he was with her mother in finding treatment. He was going to return
in a day or two as soon as he got the paper work done to come back to the
country with her mothers corpse for burrial.
Sager was Danas neighboor, he
just parked his car in his driveway and got out. He saw Layals face. It was
pale and emotionless, as if she has seen a ghost.
He got worried and went over
to her.
“Layal?” Sager said.
Layal couldn’t look up she
was simply still, she felt like the whole world was spinning around her.
She couldn’t understand why
did this have to happen to her? Wasn’t she going through enough?
“Layal…” Sager called her
again.
Layal looked up slightly at
him without replying.
“Shfeech? La tkhar3eeny rday.”
Sager was starting to get really worried.
She couldn’t say it, she was
in denial she knew that if she says it she cant deny it anymore.
“Ma feen-“ Just before she
was about to continue what she was saying Sager snapped at her.
“bala kharabee6 goleely
shfeech!” Sager was really worried about her.
“Sager gltlk ma feeny shey!”
Layal replied loudly.
Sager stared at her and
sighed, “Layal….la tkhaleeny a7ateech fee shey a7ad sawalch shey?”
Layal didn’t reply at all.
Sager, “Mno goleely? Shmsaweenlch?!”
“Ma7ad sawaly shey!” Layal
snapped.
“3ayal shfeech?!” Sager was
starting to get frustrated.
“gltlk ma feeny shey khala9
3ad !” Layals eyes started to tear up not because of the argument but because of
her mothers death.
Sager bent down to be on the
same level as she was sitting on the wheelchair.
He looked into her eyes and
asked again with a lower tone, “Shfeech layal…”.
He cared he really did. Layal
knows he does, but she was scared of telling him. Scared of the fact that she
will have to face reality once she tells him, the reality of her mothers death.
Layal bit her lip, “o-omy..”
“Shfeeha?” Sager asked.
“t-twafat…” Layal choked on
her words and burst into tears.
Sager was shocked, he didn’t expect
that. He felt her pain right at that moment, because the pain of his mothers
death started to come back. He knew exactly what Layal felt since his mother didn’t
die a long time ago.
He knew the denial, sadness,
and frustration she felt. He went through it all, and he still feels the
emptyness and pain from time to time. He knew the greif she felt far too well.
So he let her cry, he wanted
her to let it all out. He didn’t want her to pent up any emotions.
He waited there quietly
listning to her sob for a couple of
minutes before she slowly calmed down.
“3atham allah ajrch…allah
yasknha fasee7 janata inshalla…Layal la tz3leen..” Sager started to talk,
“Sager shlon ma tabeeny az3al
hathy omy.” Layal choked on her words.
“Adry adry ina moo shey sahl…ana
omy twafat mn chem sina allah yr7amha..”
“Allah yr7amha…” Layal
replied.
“Shofay layal hatha moo shey

tnsayn hel shey law she9eer intey moo broo7ch wala ra7 akhaleech broo7ch mahma
9ar.” Sager soothed her with comforting words.
Layal sniffled slightly and
looked at him, he really cared about her. She saw it by the way he looked at
her.
Layal smiled slightly, which
caused sager to smile.
